The incident took place around 6:20 p.m. on Saturday, April 15 when officers were patrolling Day Street.

According to Norwalk PD Deputy Chief Terrence Blake, an officer spotted a man standing on the sidewalk near 30 Day Street. The officer recognized the man as a person detectives wanted to speak with regarding a shooting that occurred on Friday, April 14 in the same area.

As the officer exited his vehicle, the man walked away, entering Ryan Park. Two additional officers entered Ryan Park and were able to stop the man, who initially refused to comply with the officer’s orders, Blake said.

As an officer took hold of the man's hands, his shirt pulled up revealing a loaded handgun in his waistband, police said.

Ancrun does not possess a pistol permit.

He was charged with carrying a pistol without a permit and interfering with a police officer.
